What we do with
your data.

Short version: we ask for an email address only if you offer one, and we never sell anything to anybody.

The short version

What we collect

Your email, if you give it

Only from the sign-up form. We use it to tell you about schedule changes, visiting instructors and weekenders. Nothing else.

Standard server logs

Our host records the usual request data, including your IP address, to serve pages and stop abuse.

No selling, ever

We do not sell, rent or trade your address. There is no advertising network on this site.

No account needed

You can use every page here without signing up for anything.

Be specific

Who else sees anything

Some parts of the page come from other companies, and loading them means your browser contacts those companies directly. That is normal on the web, but you deserve the list rather than a vague sentence about third parties.

Netlify

Hosts this site and processes the sign-up form. They see the usual request data on every visit.

Google Fonts

Serves the typefaces. Google receives your IP address on every page.

Dance Seekers

Supplies the calendar. Their servers see your IP when the events load.

Spotify

The playlist player on the home page and the West Coast Swing page. Spotify sets its own cookies once it loads.

OpenStreetMap

Map tiles, and only on the events page when you switch to the map view.

Nobody else

Links to Facebook, Instagram, the store and our forms are ordinary links. Those companies learn nothing until you click.

We use privacy-friendly analytics that count visits without cookies and without building a profile of you. It records the page, the referrer and a coarse country. It does not follow you to other sites.

Your call

Getting your data out

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and using it removes you immediately. If you would rather we deleted an address outright, or you want to know what we hold, ask us and we will do it. You do not need to give a reason.

The Western Michigan Westies app is a separate thing with its own account and its own policy. Deleting an app account is here.
